Farmfatech Expo Organisers Urge More Investment to Boost Agricultural Exports

News in Brief:

— Farmfatech Expo 2026 organisers are calling for greater investment in local agricultural manufacturing, modern technology, processing, storage and structured financing.

— The organisers say investment could help meet regional and international market requirements to reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen agricultural exports.

Organisers of Farmfatech Expo 2026 are urging the government, financial institutions and private investors to increase funding for local agricultural manufacturing, modern technologies and structured financing. They believe that these investments are necessary to reduce post-harvest losses, improve productivity and expand Nigeria’s agricultural exports.

The stakeholders made the call during a press conference in Abuja ahead of the third edition of the Farm, Food and Allied Technologies Expo.

Financing Must Connect Farmers to Markets

Prince Tony Ifeakandu, Managing Director of Autodex Nigeria Limited, stressed that financing should extend beyond farm production to cover the equipment, processing facilities, market access and reliable off-takers needed to make agricultural businesses commercially viable.

He said Farmfatech 2026 would bring stakeholders together to develop practical responses to these challenges and turn discussions into partnerships, investments and measurable outcomes.

The expo's theme is “Driving Agricultural Industrialisation: Local Manufacturing, Technology Transfer, Finance and Export for Africa’s Prosperity.”

Dr Nnamdi Ezeani, Chairman of the Farmfatech 2026 Organising Committee, highlighted access to appropriate financing as a major requirement for agricultural transformation. He called for financial arrangements that serve farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses across the value chain.

He said the event will allow stakeholders to examine financing models to reduce investment risks, attract private capital and support commercially viable agricultural clusters.

Security, Traceability and Quality Assurance

Beyond financing and equipment, Ezeani identified farm security, farmer certification, product traceability and quality assurance as important to strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector and expanding access to regional and international markets.

These measures would need better coordination among government agencies, financial institutions, manufacturers, farmers and other stakeholders.

The organisers also said the expo would promote locally manufactured agricultural equipment, improved irrigation systems and standardised logistics to improve the movement of produce from farms to processing centres and markets.
