FMLD Wins Go-Live Excellence Award at Paperless Civil Service Gala

News in brief:

-FMLD received the Go-Live Excellence Award for its effective adoption of paperless operations across its workflow.

-Federal officials reaffirmed commitment to digital governance as a cornerstone of public sector reform and service delivery.

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has received the Go-Live Excellence Award at the Paperless Civil Service Gala and Awards Night held recently, in recognition of its successful transition to a fully digitised workflow.

The high-profile event, organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, brought together Permanent Secretaries, Ministers, development partners, members of the diplomatic corps, Directors, and other senior government officials.

Digital Governance as a Reform Imperative

Delivering remarks as Special Guest of Honour, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, described the paperless initiative as a fundamental shift in culture, mindset, and service delivery rather than a mere technological upgrade.

He noted that digital governance enhances efficiency, transparency, accountability, and citizen-centred service delivery, while aligning with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021 to 2025 and the broader public sector reform agenda of the current administration.

Senator Akume commended institutions that demonstrated leadership and resolve in driving change, stressing that future governance depends on robust systems. He reaffirmed the commitment of his office to supporting digital reforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Evolution of Paperless Reforms Across the Civil Service

In her address, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, described the occasion as a defining moment in the reform journey of the Nigerian Federal Civil Service.

She traced the evolution of digitalisation reforms from 2017 to date, highlighting the decisive push during the COVID-19 period that made electronic content management mandatory across MDAs. According to her, the transition to a paperless system was the outcome of deliberate and sustained reforms implemented across successive administrations.

Mrs Walson-Jack applauded Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and staff for embracing change, unlearning legacy practices, and ensuring the successful adoption of digital systems.

Collaboration Behind Successful Implementation

The Head of Civil Service also commended the Digitalisation Committee, the Galaxy Backbone platform team, and technical partners whose expertise and persistence supported the effective deployment of digital infrastructure across MDAs.

While acknowledging initial challenges associated with system adjustments and learning curves, she encouraged public servants to remain resilient, emphasising that persistence and continuous improvement are essential to institutionalising reforms and sustaining a modern, efficient, and citizen-centred Federal Civil Service.

FMLD Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Excellence

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Dr Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi, said the Go-Live Excellence Award affirms the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and improved service delivery through digital transformation.

She noted that the recognition reflects the dedication of the Ministry’s leadership and staff in embracing reform and aligning operations with the Federal Government’s digital governance objectives.
