News in Brief
-NALDA partners with Arzikin Noma Limited to oversee the management of the Renewed Hope Mega Farm in Ora, Kwara State.
-Arzikin Noma will fund and manage farmers on the estate, while NALDA provides land and infrastructure.
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has entered into a partnership with Arzikin Noma Limited, a renowned private agric firm, for the management of the Renewed Hope Mega Farm in Ora, Kwara State.
This collaboration, sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja, is expected to strengthen the food security drive and expand large-scale mechanised farming in rural communities.
NALDA, Arzikin Noma Join Forces for Ora Mega Farm
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, NALDA’s Executive Secretary, Cornelius Adebayo, described the initiative as a key part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at transforming agriculture into a profitable, youth-driven enterprise.
Adebayo explained that each of the farm's estates will span at least 5,000 hectares, equipped with hostels, administrative offices, warehouses, police posts, and recreational facilities, all designed to make farming more appealing to young Nigerians.
Under the agreement signed for the Ora Mega Farm, NALDA will provide land and basic infrastructure, while Arzikin Noma will finance and oversee crop production, manage farmers, and ensure quality control across the estate’s clusters.
“We see Arzikin Noma as a responsible company, and NALDA has decided to say these are people we should work with. NALDA has provided infrastructure, but Arzikin Noma is financing the farmers who will plant on these clusters. So NALDA is not involved in input or any other thing,” Adebayo said.
He added that this public-private model promotes accountability, mechanisation, and sustainability without imposing upfront costs on participating farmers.
Broader plans of the Renewed Hope Mega Farm Project
The Renewed Hope Mega Farm concept was introduced in 2023 as part of President Tinubu’s agricultural transformation plan to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production. Managed by NALDA, the programme envisions the establishment of integrated farm estates in every state.
Adebayo also revealed at the signing ceremony that pilot projects have also commenced in other states, such as Ekiti and Bauchi States.
The broader Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, launched in 2024, targets over 550,000 hectares of farmland and 2 million tonnes of staple food annually while creating over 16,000 jobs nationwide.
Arziki Noma lauds collaborative initiative
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director of Arzikin Noma, Michael Adeshola, said the collaboration reflects a new direction for Nigerian agriculture, one focused on landscape farming, sustainability, and local value addition.
He said the farm estates would integrate housing, training, and social amenities for farmers, promoting job creation, youth engagement, and rural stability.
Arzikin Noma Limited is a Nigerian agribusiness company renowned for its farmer-centric approach and experience in sustainable agricultural projects. The company partners with smallholder farmers to produce grains, legumes, and oilseeds for both local and industrial markets.
Earlier in June, the company supported over 7,000 smallholder farmers in Oyo State with agricultural inputs and training support through its Sorghum Value Chain Transformation Project.
It has also successfully collaborated with organisations such as Olam Agri and the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) to empower over 5,000 soybean farmers in Kwara State through training, mechanisation support, and market access.
