Sankara Nigeria, Kano State Partner to Improve Mechanised Farming

News in Brief:

-The Kano State Government and Sankara Nigeria formed a strategic partnership to modernise Nigerian agriculture through mechanisation, innovation, and training.

-This alliance, supported by Lovol Nigeria, aims to make advanced machinery and modern farming practices accessible across the country, beginning in the North.

In a bold step toward modernising Nigeria’s agriculture, the Kano State Government has partnered with Sankara Nigeria Limited and Lovol Nigeria to establish a nationwide agricultural alliance aimed at advancing mechanisation, innovation, and farmer empowerment.

The high-level meeting, led by Hon. Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, brought together key farming associations and private-sector stakeholders to discuss strategies that would strengthen productivity and competitiveness across Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.

Strengthening Mechanisation and Farmer Support

Speaking during the session, Dr Nafiu Danladi Sankara, Managing Director of Sankara Nigeria Limited, reaffirmed the company’s long-standing role in agricultural development.

“Since 1978, we have provided farmers with world-class tractors, implements, and spare parts helping them farm smarter, increase yields, and drive economic growth,” he said.

Li Chan, representing Lovol Nigeria, added that the partnership will make high-performance, durable machinery more accessible to Nigerian farmers, reducing manual labour while improving efficiency and profitability.

Public-Private Partnership for Growth

Hon. Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim described the collaboration as a game-changer for Nigeria’s agricultural future.

“Our farmers are the backbone of our economy. By linking them with experienced industry leaders, we are equipping them to compete globally while strengthening local food security,” he added.

The alliance also discussed plans to extend the initiative beyond Kano, covering the wider Northern region and eventually nationwide. Participants agreed on the need for capacity building, sustainable farming practices, and technology adoption to close productivity gaps.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

At the end of the meeting, all parties expressed optimism about the alliance’s potential to reshape Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.

“This is more than a meeting, it’s a call to action for all of us to support farmers and drive Nigeria’s agricultural sector forward,” Sankara emphasised.

With clear objectives on mechanisation, innovation, and job creation, the partnership signals a new chapter for Nigerian agriculture, one that prioritises collaboration, efficiency, and sustainability.
