Tantalizers Signs Multi-Million-Dollar Export Deal with US Seafood Buyer

News in brief:

-Tantalizers Plc has signed a five-year, multi-million-dollar seafood export deal with US-based Harvester Fisheries LLC.

-The agreement expands Nigeria’s footprint in the global seafood market and strengthens the company’s diversification into export-oriented agribusiness.

Tantalizers Plc, a brand long known for fast food and quick-service restaurants, recently took a major leap into the global seafood market after signing a five-year offtake agreement with US-based Harvester Fisheries LLC.

The deal, described as a multi-million-dollar partnership, commits Tantalizers and its subsidiary, Tantalizers Fisheries Ltd., to supply guaranteed annual volumes of wild-caught tiger prawns and shrimps to its American buyer.

A Strategic Shift Beyond Fast Food

The agreement marks its strongest push yet into the export space, aligning with Nigeria’s wider national effort to boost non-oil foreign earnings.

Through its fisheries arm, which operates within a free-trade zone, Tantalizers oversees harvesting, trawling, processing, and international packaging of shrimp and prawn products that meet globally recognised hygiene and food-safety standards.

“This agreement marks a significant milestone in our diversification strategy,” said Robert Speijer, Group Managing Director. “It strengthens our global supply chain integration and positions Nigeria as a credible source of high-quality seafood for the North American market.”

US Buyer Confident in Nigerian Capacity

Harvester Fisheries, headquartered in New Bedford, Massachusetts, one of America’s largest and most active fishing ports, supplies premium seafood to supermarkets, restaurants and institutional buyers across North America.

The US firm expressed confidence in Tantalizers Fisheries’ capacity, quality control systems and adherence to international regulations, stating that the partnership is backed by extensive due diligence and long-term projections.

The deal aligns with Nigeria’s ongoing push to scale its blue economy, particularly through export-driven aquaculture and fisheries.

Industry observers say this agreement could open fresh doors for Nigerian seafood exporters, deepen processing capacity in the country and contribute to the diversification of the national economy.
